The Diocesan Caritas Association for the Archdiocese of Cologne (DiCV) assumes the coordination and project management of the Strategic Partnership in Erasmus+.
The association was founded on 27th February 1916 as a regional umbrella association. Today, the DiCV Cologne has about 260 members in cities and communities of the Rhineland and adjacent districts. The Caritas in the Archdiocese of Cologne supports about 2.000 institutions and services including hospitals, nursing services, social institutions and information centres with approximately 57.000 employees.
In particular, the DiCV Cologne is responsible
for the political representation of its members and for expert further training
of Caritas staff in member associations. It employs about 150 specialists and
trainers. Every year about 9000 specialists take part in the various DiCV
Cologne programmes for continued and further professional training. These training
programmes have been audited and certified according to the German Caritas
Association’s quality system and are examined on a continuous basis.
The Caritas in the Archdiocese of Cologne
supports people in need of help and socially disadvantaged – amongst other
things, in the area of child and youth promotion, family support, care of
senior citizens, health and care, help for homeless and offenders, social
hotspots, social counselling and poverty issues, migration and assistance for
non-Germans and also in in the field of vocational training and labour market
integration of vulnurable groups.
As a head organisation, the DiCV, on the one
hand, wants to draw attention of politics, administration, society and church
to the situation of socially excluded and people experiencing poverty lobby
work. On the other, it encourages persons affected on the basis of help for
self-help to actively take part in changing their difficult situation.
Due to its long-term experience, the Diocesan Caritas Association Cologne has the necessary professional and administrative competence to realise European funded projects.
